I've been spending so much more time there since they added Jobs and Answers. I feel like it's really graduated to "Social Network" status now. Are you using LinkedIn's new features? What do you think?
I am inclined to agree with you. I think that Linked In has evolved into quite a useful Social network. I use it to keep a running contact book, and the additional amenities of reaching out to new people and situations is evolving. I think that over time, with diligent stewardship, Linked In will become more viable and step into the role as the professional equivalent of My Space...
I've met new clients, partners etc over the last 2 weeks of intensely using it. (Also made $10k in sales). Had a couple guys from the states fly up to meet me in person, for future potential business dealings. I'm impressed, but I think I'm the exception. The first 4 months it just wasted my time. I'd ask questions and get maybe 2 answers. When my network hit 500+ (4million+ 3rd level) things got looking good, but even beyond that it was figuring out a way to manage the contacts. Linkedin needs a contact manager desperately --even if just used for social. Otherwise it's just an address book. It's strange how they are so popular even though it's so lacking in essential features. ~V
Funny I mentioned LinkedIn...two recruiters just contacted me via my profile. (Don't worry kids, I'm not going anywhere!) But it's good to know that it's THAT useful for job hunting.
